Tech Tip

Securely Use Outlook 2003 Remotely – Without a VPN

A new feature that Microsoft made available in Exchange 2003 with Outlook 2003 allows Outlook users to access their Exchange data without a VPN tunnel. Instead you can configure Outlook to communicate with your Exchange Server using an encrypted SSL connection (the same as a secure web site for credit card transactions). When you are on the road, there are no additional firewall ports to open, no VPN software to configure, just have an Internet connection, open Outlook, login, and you are ready to go.
